Important Information About Local Scholarships

There are 50 local scholarships available to Blaine County students. Applying for local scholarships takes extra effort and much organization by the student, but can often be very fruitful. 

Steps for Organizing

  1. Establish what scholarships you qualify for.
  2. Search for local scholarship applications here.
  3. Outline a plan!
    1. Prioritize your scholarships - note scholarship due dates!
    2. List what needs to get done for each scholarship
    3. Assign due dates for each task
      1. Give ample time for recommenders to complete recommendations
      2. Allow for a couple drafts and edits of your essays to take place
    4. Assign a submission date for each scholarship application - don’t wait until the last minute!

Transcripts

Be sure to obtain a PDF version of your high school transcript. Your counselor can provide this for you.

SAR

The SAR, or Student Aid Report, is found in your FAFSA. If you have not completed your FAFSA, now is good time to do so!

LORs

LORs, or Letters of Recommendation, are to be uploaded by the recommender directly.


And finally, it’s always nice to THANK your recommenders and THANK the organization you earn a scholarship from.
